Hello, my name is Clara Mayorga, a Colombian woman who has lived in Florida, USA, for more than 15 years. Conventional implantology involved performing a sinus lift and bone regeneration due to the lack of sufficient bone. This process would be long and complicated, delaying treatment by at least 9 additional months to allow the bone to regenerate before implants could be placed.

In addition, with this technique, the prosthesis could not be loaded immediately, but only 4 months after placing the implants. This meant I would have to make three visits to Colombia and go through a total process of approximately 13 months to receive my final prosthesis.

Strategic Implantology

The alternative with strategic implantology was ideal for my case because I had limited bone. This technique allows implants to be placed in areas where there is enough bone, without the need for sinus lifts or extensive bone regeneration.

With strategic implantology, I would only need to make two visits to Colombia. Although the cost of this type of implantology is slightly higher than conventional implantology, it is completely worth it because of the benefits in time and immediate results.

For both techniques, they explained that the prostheses can be made from different materials: acrylic, metal-porcelain, or zirconia. These materials vary in price and durability. I chose strategic implantology with a zirconia prosthesis because this material offers a natural appearance, is resistant, and does not change color over time.

Procedure and Results

Surgery and Temporary Prosthesis

I decided to move forward with strategic implants. Within 48 hours, I underwent surgery to remove the fixed prosthesis I had and placed 10 strategic implants. Then, they placed a temporary acrylic prosthesis over the implants. This prosthesis will be replaced in six months with a final zirconia prosthesis.

The speed of the procedure and the immediate results exceeded my expectations.
